They might do what?
Our school district has been hit very hard by the struggling economy. We've gone to a 4 day week this year and that has helped a lot. But what they are thinking about doing next is not cool! Right now there are 2 elementary schools in my town. The side of the road I'm on has my kids in the "good" school. I'm happy with it. Well they are thinking about turning the other elementary school into pre-school thru 2nd and my kids elementary into 3rd thru 5th. Hailey goes to middle school so she won't be affected. But I will have 3 kids in 3 schools! I will be running all over picking up and dropping off! It's bad enough already that they are all 3 on 3 different schedules, but at least it's 2 schools right beside each other! No other parents are happy about this either. We will be voting on a school bond next month and I soooo hope it passes. If it doesn't, this split elementary will be a for sure thing I think. I'm thinking maybe homeschooling isn't looking so bad.

i still cant get over how school is 4 days aweek. Makes me feel like they are getting lesser education or forcing feeding them to catch up to a 5 day week. Now this to me is what should be on the news. Things like this is what has really upset me.
I cant believe how states have no money its blowing me away. At this rate we not going to be able to put kids in school. Im really scared that this is what is going to happen. Were going to have adults who cant read and write and who cant even understand things ..
I just love how we see on the news "So and so needs to do it our way, then so and so says no its our way". In the meantime people and kids are trying to make it and learn. I mean theres no rewind button.

I know how ya feel. I've got 4 kids in 3 different schools. Honestly, that's the reason my kids all ride the bus. There is no way I could drive all over the county every morning and afternoon.
Our schools here tried something new this year too. We started back 4 weeks after all the other counties around us. But our school years will all end at the same time. To make up for our month, they added an extra hour to the school days. My kids are gone from 6 a.m. every morning until 4:15 every afternoon....that's a VERY long day.
I hope they can figure something else out.

Julie, I know it seems odd, but it might not be as bad as you fear. Our district is set up like that. We have two K-2 schools, one 3-4 school, one 5-6 school, one 7-8 school, and the high school is 9-12. There are definitely pros to that type of situation. I love that my Kindergartener did not have to go to school with 6th graders. Also, everything in each building is geared specifically toward that age of children. It works out very well for us.
I know how you feel, though. At one point, I had four kids in four different schools! lol

I love the 4 day week. A lot of the rural schools around here do that and it works. The days are a little longer but that's okay. It's worth it on Friday. I talked to Dakota's teacher and it is a little different than I heard first. It will be Pre thru 3rd and 4th thru 7th and 8th thru 12th. I really don't like that one! Cy doesn't need to be with 7th graders! That's a big age difference at that age. I would let my kids ride the bus, but I have to pick up the kids I babysit anyway, and I know of some trouble that has happened on the bus. Dakota would love it though. It stinks because I think it's come where I may need to get a job outside of the home, but now it looks like I maybe should homeschool. I guess we'll just wait this one out and see how it turns out. I'm so mad at the state of Az for not knowing how to budget. This all goes back to them. Stacey I'm glad it works for your district. Change is just hard though. But it is encouraging to know it works somewhere.
